I haven’t spent too much time trying “Web 2.0″ websites lately, but yesterday and today I spent some time trying out Zimbio and HubPages, which are actually both pretty good. The benefits from using the websites are:

  1. Increases your exposure in the social internet (branding)
  2. Build links to important interior pages of your website
  3. Find buyers for your products
  4. Get your content exposed to others who wouldn’t normally see it

Zimbio and HubPages are different in their conception. HubPages is there for you to build pages on their domain only. Zimbio allows you to import your blog posts through RSS, thereby giving you more exposure for your existing articles. On Zimbio you can also add and edit pages, though, so most of HubPages functionality appears to be encapsulated in Zimbio, although obviously there are many differences.

HubPages is a lot like Squidoo. It offers an easy interface to publish. I was able to make this hub Learning SEO basics in a few minutes.

I can’t speak for any miraculous results from either service, but that is obviously because you need to establish quite a bit of effort at either one to get much traffic to your own website. There appear to be obvious SEO benefits to the services, but I’ll reserve judgment until I see something definitive.

In the meantime, I would say both sites are pretty fun to use and have some potential for commercial applications, so I will definitely be looking into them further.

What do you think of these services?
