Life with the new Google index is not so bad. In fact, I’m beginning to like it, a lot. In fact, I like it so much I almost can’t trust my good fortune. If you’ve spend the last few years building “trust” at your websites, chances are you’ve noticed a large reward for your efforts.
I can’t speak for how many types of sites are doing, because since 2006 I’ve been building most of my websites one way: slow and steady with an emphasis on content over off-page factors. I reasoned that content was good for everyone, and consistent content is what builds trust with users and search engines alike. I mean if you run a website about “fishing in Michigan” and you’re an expert in the field, you really shouldn’t have that hard of a time gaining trust and rankings, as long as you update your content regularly.
So far my basic long term methods are working. Of course many other methods are too, but I can’t speak to those. All I can say is that the old fashioned blog and ping, update and write method of blogging seems to do well. Whether this will stay in fashion for a period of time is anyone’s guess. But for now, all is well.
How are you faring with the new Google index?
