It’s that time of the year. Spring is here and it is the time period where you review all of the websites you’ve been building these last so many years. Websites are like anything else, they require maintenance. You need to run all of your utilities and see if you have any mistakes that need reckoning, or any improvements that just have to be made.
Web Cleanup should focus on some obvious areas
- Functionality above all else. Find any broken pages, links, etc, and get rid of them.
- Design imperfections. Check your design in multiple browsers and make sure your design imperfections haven’t overrun your whole website
- HTML screwups. These are some of the most subtle and worse to find. Check your basic structure with a fine tooth comb
- Programming errors. Easy to do. Plus, upgrade any software programs to latest versions.
All of these take time, but will be well worth it in the end. If you find one error that is costing you money, it will be worth it. Happy Spring!
