Internet Content Is Exploding

The move towards online is getting noticeable for many media companies. I can’t help thinking that a website like Hulu.com is a clear example of how much things have changed. You can now watch entire TV episodes, free, from your PC using you internet connection. In exchange for the free view, major companies pay to embed a logo in the video viewer.

Hulu.com also places 15 second ads in front of many of the TV episodes. Dare I say it, it’s almost just like TV, only using a different distribution platform. Companies have finally made the plunge and are putting almost their entire content libraries online.

With this huge move towards online, undoubtedly a number of companies will be lost in the transition. Media outlets that haven’t embraced online are way behind the ones who have.

For those of us making more “content” online, the trend is good. It means people expect more and more top quality content, and they are used to consuming it online. In fact, young people won’t even remember how the content used to be delivered. The Golden Age of Web Content is among us. Now we just have to keep supplying people with the “good stuff” they actually enjoy.

  2. This is the massage I get when I try to watch this video from Moldova (Eastern Europe): “Unfortunately this video is not currently available in your country or region. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

So I guess this is just for selected countries.., this is a pity.
