Not only do you need traffic to your website, but you also have to keep it coming. This is the dilemma faced by everyone who ever put up a website. When you run a primarily text-based content site, it becomes a constant struggle. You have to keep adding content to your overall archive or you will eventually trend downward in total visits.

How to increase the speed of visitor growth (through organic SEO primarily):

1) Extend your archive to fit the needs of current web visitors. You do this by seeing what brings them in already, and extending your knowledge base by creating additional, related content. Flesh out short articles. Fill in categories with more content. Go wide and deep on the subject.

2) Extend your archive to fit the needs of people who are not currently visitors. Create content based on entirely new keyword concepts. Add new categories and articles on new subjects.

3) Encourage your current visitors to refer people to the website. This is based on the “quality” of your website. The higher the quality, especially as it relates to information on your chosen subject, will result in word of mouth referrals which will greatly expand your overall visitor base.

An increase in incoming links is assumed by all three of these steps. If you make your website more attractive to a large group of web surfers, your overall incoming links will almost always rise in harmony with your efforts.

Last, but not least, if you can afford to buy some new visitors (targeted only), then it might be worth advertising to get your website kick-started. Just make sure that you can somehow justify the high cost of traffic acquisition.

All in all, the organic SEO route is often the cheapest, and most reliable way to get new traffic. If you have time to work on your website, the expansions you make to existing content almost always pay off in increased ROI.

  2. Agreed  . Traffic graph will fall if one does not keep the content updated and add new content at the same time.
