If you are constantly working on your website, looking to expand your rankings, you’ll need new sources of keyword ideas. One of the best of this is pretty obvious, but invaluable. If you look at what people are already entering to get to to your website, you’ll find plenty of ancillary terms that will be easy to rank for.

If you see someone searching in the 11-20 spots, you might have found a hot spot

If web searchers are drilling down past the first page of results to find answers, it’s a good indication that the top results are garbage. Couple this with the fact that you already “sort of” rank, and you realize it doesn’t take much to make your page rank higher for the terms in 11-20 that people are already searching for. It might be as simple as re-arranging some of your page content to capture more market share.

Like most obvious ideas, I bet this one is being neglected in many cases in favor of more complicated solutions. But there’s no need to ignore foundational search terms. You can continue to build on them, and capture more of the traffic that your website needs to grow.
