Search engine traffic can be here today and gone tomorrow, so it never pays to be too attached to it. And even if your rankings don’t drop, certain keywords just don’t generate the same volume over time. People lose interest, and move on.
The one and only way you can hope to stay ahead of the curve is by constantly getting new rankings, and experimenting with the traffic. By the time a new search trend shows up in a keyword tool, it’s already way to late.
As the years progress and you continue to market online, you are likely to get an indifferent attitude about some search engine traffic. All of it is definitely not created equal, and some can barely be monetized. It’s easy to be interested in gaining more traffic, but you also have to keep you mind on effective monetization. Sometimes “too much traffic” can be a real problem, especially when it comes to getting advertisers.
Still, it’s a problem I’d rather have than too little traffic. And only fresh traffic will keep your metrics moving up in the end.
i have started working for my site 2 months back. the site is having double traffic now. but how to maintain this steady flow of traffic?
Hi
What is a resonable CTR?
I have a hobby web sites that I maintain, for which I get a CTR of around 1%. This seems low to me. Do you agree?
Cheers, John
John, it really varies from site to site. 1% is not terrible, but I think it could probably be improved on.
