I’ll assume you’re using Google Analytics, and are familiar with many of their basic terms. If not, it might be time to check out the solution, since it is both free and robust. With most of the Google metrics, you are looking for an increase. Simply, the easiest ways to make more money for a website are to increase the number of visitors to the website (new and repeating), and extend the amount of time people spend, as well as the site resources they consume.

It is simple for content websites to extend their performance

One thing you can assume when you have a content website is that your visitors are looking for a specific type of content, and will probably accept more content of the same kind. So, always prompt them to read related articles, look at related pictures, watch related videos, or all of the above. This simple step of prompting visitors to consume more of your website will result in immediate benefit. If you show them inline YouTube videos, you will also see an increase in time spent on site.

Here are 3 ways to instantly increase interest and extend time on site as well as pageviews.

1) Re-design your navigation so that main concepts of the website are easy to find.
2) Always show related articles, pictures, and videos that will keep surfers around longer
3) Write longer articles to immediately increase time spent (it will take them longer to read so they’ll be around longer)

I have been using these methods in the last few weeks and have had great results. As your website metrics increase, it also appears that traffic and revenue increase accordingly.

  2. ber in mind that you always have to find the balans between “entertainment”of your site an valuable content. Sure long articles will keep people on your site, but only those people who are really interested in the subject. My experiences is still that pcitures with explaning text with good site navigation is a key to succes.

Even more important set a goalof what you like your visitors to do and plan the navigation accordingly.

  3. OK< but these are not solutions for AddSense-vased blogs: they rely on number of clicks but not on the time spent on that blog.
