Prompting Inactive Users Is Good For A Boost In Traffic

I have been experimenting with emailing inactive users on several of my websites and the results have been good. The idea has been around for years, and makes logical sense. Someone who took the time to sign up at your website one time in the past is a likely candidate to still need your products or services. Hit up the list from time to time to jolt some people’s memories.
Marketing works especially well when it’s repetitive. If you can repeat your message to the same people, they will eventually get to know your website. Contact them like you really miss them (with a well crafted letter) and see if you can convert some of the inactives to regulars again.
Turning even a few inactive accounts into regular contributors can make a huge difference when it comes to pageviews for your website.
Give it a try. It really can’t hurt.

One Response to “Prompting Inactive Users Is Good For A Boost In Traffic”
I too have had similar results. In October 07 we began inviting our inactive databse to a high rise and loft condo tour. That database contained approximately 2,000 e-mail addresses, which ultimately had about 1,500 good addresses, and then another 200 or so “opted out,” leaving us with 1,300 good “inactive” addresses.
For the first two months I got zero response from anyone in this group. But for the last two months one third of one percent responded and joined our tour. OK, those numbers are low, but this is another four people who I now have a chance to convert from an inactive lead to a prospect to a client and in today’s slower real estate market I need every edge I can get. What I don’t know is how many page views I got from this group which is ultimately what you were discussing. W
