Google Adsense Changes Dizzying In 2007

The only thing that remained constant with Google Adsense in 2007 was change. Google, despite the incredible success they’ve had with the Adsense program, had no fear when it came to introducing and testing new features. Hardly anything is the same any more, even how advertisers are charged for clicks. For some, these changes were extremely painful. For others, they served as a reminder to always remain flexible when it comes to running an online business.
The Adsense program is maturing, and for this reason alone, I’m glad that the company continues to experiment with ways to get more revenue. If they don’t, they’ll end up with diminishing revenues one day, and so will many complacent publishers.
I expect that Google will keep the same frenetic pace for changes in 2008. So I plan on doing what I did last year: keeping an open mind and trying to earn from as many different platforms as I can. This includes any new ad programs that Google rolls out. Since I already get paid by them monthly, there’s no reason not to try and earn more.
Last year I found a great amount of additional revenue from Adsense for Search and also a small amount from Referrals 2.0. I haven’t made a ton off of their mobile ad units yet, but I can’t help but thinking the mobile market is expanding rapidly. With the DoubleClick merger done, I expect even more options.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. That is especially true when you consider your job is to find and make more money online, using any means necessary!
