Okay, there are a few areas where internet marketing differs from offline businesses. Offline, you need a lot of capital to hope to be competitive in any business. You’ll find lots of well-financed rivals, and you’ll all be competing for the same dollar from indifferent customers. If you want to stand out offline, it almost always come down to price, and how much you spend to get the word out to potential customers.
Online you face the trust issue, but you can operate much more cheaply, and in the end, efficiently than an offline business. You don’t have to have a huge staff or a giant office to sell things online. You have to earn the trust of your potential customers, but access to the huge marketplace of the internet can occur for anyone who runs a decent website and initiates a professional online marketing campaign.
Your online business needs to put the customer first, and needs to earn the trust of people who aren’t nearby geographically. The companies that have been able to earn trust online have been rewarded hugely. When you win the trust of the customers online and integrate a low-cost internet marketing plan, you can compete with the “big boys” and not be at that much of a disadvantage. You have lower costs for marketing and business operations, so you can probably leave a lot of offline bricks and mortar companies in the dust when it comes time to compete.
Internet marketing is just like any other business, except in some ways, it’s better. Not having to pay high rates for Yellow Pages ads and having a large potential worldwide market to sell to are enough to get anyone excited about marketing online. If you’re out there and still dragging your heels, forget it. It’s time to jump right in to the huge online market.
