I admit that I’m getting might be bored with the subject of SEO. It doesn’t really matter, either, because I’m a peripheral figure at the edge of the SEO industry, and not someone who dabbles in the Art for a full-time living. But I have to admit the rate of discovery of new ideas seems slower than ever before, and people are literally repeating themselves daily with information that’s several years old. I won’t name names, but I recently read a lengthy interview with a link-building expert who said, get this: “try and make your linking look organic.” Wow! You don’t say?

Is anyone even talking about new SEO technology?

They might be, but they aren’t calling it SEO Technology, apparently. In fact, a Google Blogsearch of the term shows no recent posts with the title. So, from a freshness standpoint, this subject is not hot. Now I’m not making the point that SEO technology is completely dead, but it seems that the average person is relying on old tricks that may or may not be working.

The only discussions I see out there about SEO technology are dog-eared. They namely cover:

  • Blog and Ping
  • RSS Feeds
  • Social Networking

Looking forward, what can we expect?

Therein lies the big question. It doesn’t pay to consider what has been working, or what used to work. The key is to get ahead of the curve and discover the SEO technology of the future. When you get ahead of the game, you can actually make money where others are flailing. Trying to play catchup is no fun at all, and in the SEO business, it can be deadly.

So, there’s my take on SEO technology as it stands today. What are the advances that most impress you in SEO?
