Blogging is an excellent source of traffic generation. Granted, it’s a good deal of work, but I consider it to be essential these days. Companies have been adding blogs for years now, as they hope to capitalize on the potential two-way nature of communications. But where a blog can really excel is for the small businessman.
Blogs are a low-cost way to bring in fresh traffic daily
Frankly, blogs have one big advantage over other types of CMS’s. That advantage is freshness. If you keep your blog fresh, you’re assured that new people are made aware of your website every day. Plus, you get fresh visits everyday from places other than traditional search engines.
Another nice aspect of blogs is that you can cover a lot of ground in your topic. You don’t necessarily need to stay pigeon-holed in a small range, like you do if you attempt to build keyword-driven pages. You can garner a ton of traffic based on covering news that’s relevant to your industry. If you’re handy with scanning RSS feeds, you can offer up to date info that keeps people coming back and may even make them look up to you as an authority.
Another advantage to blogging is just how easy it is to integrate one for your website. If you have multiple employees at your company (especially a few who seem to be goofing off), it’s well worth it to assign one the job of blogging. Your sales or marketing staff and even technical people would be obvious candidates. They can help themselves help the business grow just by talking to the customers and prospects in this truly unique and uplifting manner.
