Adjusting To The Google EverFlux

I think I’m finally getting used to the constant change in Google. I mean the results from their index and the amount of money paid on Adsense have become pretty variable in the last six months. But one trend that keep any website growing is to produce more content, and to increase the production of older, archived content.

No matter how much Google changes the way they do things, the bottom line for any webmaster is you still have to increase page views. If your website can’t increase page views, you hit a stage of maturation. Sometimes this might be close to inevitable, but in reality, you can probably push through if you stay focused. But if you emphasize the constant ups and downs of search engine traffic, you might end up too let down by the bad days when your websites get hit.

That’s why nobody can seriously purse a search engine only strategy these days, no matter how much they want to. Google has made so many announcements in the past recent months that affect “pure search” websites, it’s almost barely worth mentioning. The personalization options are coming at a furious pace. This means more and more human data is being collected about every website. Google will use this to punish the bad sites and praise the good ones.

For the last year I’ve been focusing on this human element, because I foresaw this day as inevitable. As Google gets bigger and more sophisticated and has larger advertisers to please, they’ll end up refining their search program and publishing partner program an infinite number of times. That’s why you have to please the public, and not them. Build your website for the end users and Google will take care of itself. Corny, sure, but never truer than lately.
