Google’s New Handling Of Sub-Domains: What Idiot Came Up With This?

That’s the only thing I can wonder. What idiot at Google decided to make all of a domain’s sub-domains come up when you do a site: command? Sub-domains have always been treated correctly as individual websites, because for all intents and purposes, they are! So for whose convenience shall we suddenly lump all the pages in together? Not mine, that’s for sure.
I’m not sure why Google has apparently permanently broken the site: command. It seems like it’s an essential tool, to almost any webmaster. To me, the site: command should answer the question: “How many pages of my website do you have in you index?”
Google has also developed an issue with clustering of sub-domains in their search results
For years you couldn’t rank more than one page in the top 10 for a search, but it appears that that is no longer the case. In many searches, you can see this happening. You can see multiple rankings for different sub-domains.
The site: command has been wonky for a long time, but now it’s downright annoying! Let’s hope Google comes back to their senses and quit grouping sub-domains in with the root domain.
