Since I mentioned keyword tools yesterday, a few questions were raised which deserve a detailed response. Let’s cover some of the basics about Keyword Tools?

4 Tips about Keyword Prediction Tools

1) Keyword suggestion tools are okay, but they aren’t the final word on anything. Always use common sense before configuring a page for any keywords.

2) Keyword suggestion tools get their data from meta-search engines, and the information is generally stale. By the time a keyword ends up in the tool, it might not be hot anymore. Example: ringtones which are no longer popular.

3) The keyword suggestion tools offer you no clue as to the total volume of a search term. There is absolutely NO WAY to accurately guess what Google traffic will end up bringing you. Everything depends on who’s searching that day, and what position you are in. Don’t even try making a guestimate because it will end up being way off.

4) Keyword suggestion tools can become a crutch. Don’t let these tools rule your life. You can also research keywords by looking in your logs and seeing what people are coming in on. It’s up to you to get to know your surfers, and why they’re there.

Keyword tools are like any tool: they’re are neither good nor bad. In the hands of a skilled craftsman, a keyword suggestion tool should help search engine marketing efforts greatly.

Use your tool, wisely! ;)
