Google Updates Adsense Policy

Once again, Google is getting clearer about their policies in their Adsense advertising program. As the years have progressed, and the market has matured, Google has become much more explicit with what they’ll allow in their system.
The updated policy can be found here. Google has clamped down on deceptive ways to earn. They go into great deal about what they consider legitimate or not. This a must read for any serious Adsense publisher. Among the highlights:
* May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
* May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
* May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
* May not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites
* May not compensate users for viewing ads or performing searches, or promise compensation to a third party for such behavior
* May not place misleading labels above Google ad units - for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”
Many issues which have been seemingly ambigous have become a lot clearer. What used to be tolerated will no longer be. I’m guessing this should be the death knell of the quasi-professional webmaster who has been squeezing Adsense for all it’s worth.
When you get a chance, go read this whole document. The game just changed for many.
