Google Cleans Up A Lot Of Supplemental Results

I have to hand it to them, it’s like Google finally took out a broom and swept out a ton of broken pages, and pages marked supplemental. They also fixed the “ordering problem” they seemed to have when you used a site: command. Something is very different in the last few days, and hopefully it’s a sign of improving days for dilligent webmasters.

Google traffic is free, so you can’t really complain about it

Oh, hell, sure you can. Free or not, Google traffic is so important to the health of a website, that you just can’t ignore it. That’s why people get so frustrated when something inexplicable goes wrong. Even if it “fixes itself”.

Google has scared the hell out of a lot people with this supplemental index

You can see clearly that for months many webmasters have been shocked to find their rankings gone, and almost all of their pages marked “supplemental”. Not only will this shock you, but you can also expect that it will affect your pay in a negative way. And this will make webmasters more and more nervous as long as the reasons for becoming “supplemental” are never clear.

How have you fared with the supplementals? Have you see a bunch of supplementals disappear in the last 48 hours?

  2. Darren,

You are correct in what you are saying because a lot of my pages are no longer in Supplemental but Some are still in Supplemental just not as many.

How did you figure this out?

  3. Your correct. I just checked deep links. Last week I had over 2,000. Now deep and regular links is zero. Will they ever get this fixed? I did a lot of work for my links. How can they disapear.

  4. How do I find out if I have sites or pages in the supplemental index?

  5. Will,

Do site:directory.sootle.com in the Google Search box. (Replace with your own domain)

Click on the “more results” pages and look. The pages marked Supplemental will have a notation next to them.
