SEO And Marketing Can’t Be Separated

I know there are a lot of very technical minded SEOs out there, but I think the days of crunching algos and concerning yourself only with gaining rankings can’t matter are coming soon. No matter what, you always have to market your website and/or product, and the better you are at that, the easier your job becomes, even with SEO.

Why is a marketable website easier to SEO for?

Assuming you’ve spent the time getting a nice design for your website, and filling it with incredible content, then your website is already marketing to end users and webmasters. The webmasters who visit your website will be much more inclined to link to you if you’ve spent the time explaining “who you are” and “what you offer”. Getting your message across to people in a cohesive manner is the challenge for anyone running an online message. If you give off mixed signals in any part of your presentation, you might just lose customers and sales.

You can think of SEO as marketing your website to the engines.

Like anyone else, the search engines are basically indifferent to your website. They’ll be happy to rank you high, as long as basically everyone else in your niche thinks your a top notch resource. You might be able to bribe them into accepting you, but they sure can be fickle with a deal like that. So in the end, it’s your job, by carefully managing your link profile, to market your website in a way that search engines will buy.

Marketing and SEO converge because a quality website is required to do either correctly

In the end, you’ll end up having to spend some time making your website a resource. This could take on many forms, but basically you’ll know when you’re up to standards. As the quality of your website improves, and the type of information contained on it, you can expect a similar increase in revenues as more people get to trust and know you. When you understand that marketing and SEO are married and can never be divorced, you can expect the Sun to shine brightly on your back for many months to come.

  2. Hi, since I’m NOT a SEO expert, and there are so many of them out there, which companies seem to be the best?
Since quality links are so important, what’s the best way to find the best websites to link to? And if you’re site is relatively new, why would they even consider linking to a small competitor? Thanks, Gary

  3. I tend to agree that both go hand in hand and what does it matter if they do. SEO is based on optimizing, so is marketing ‘all being equal’. This site above leans to both territories and promotes other peoples articles that have value - not a bad place to start. The SEO Site also reviews and highlights some of the better tools in the market place. More importantly there’s an article there that relates to your question. Hope it’s of help, Ray
