Well it’s a new year and SEOs everywhere can feel a tinge of excitement. What more ups and downs can optimizing pages have in store? If the last few years are any indication, SEOs will have to be adaptable and fluid, as always. The search engines never rest. They continously make upgrades to how the process data, and you simply cannot expect things to stay the same.
The search engines appear to be getting more and more sophisticated all the time.
It sure looks like the search algos are wising up. In the past, there was relatively few techniques that you could make that would have very dramatic effects on your SERPs. Now, nothing works exactly like it used to. You have to show a certain amount of subtlety these days, and I can’t see this changing.
As the search engines continously add processing power, there are more and more likely to change how they rank pages. As they gain more and more technical expertise, the concept of “fooling them” gets tougher. For this reason, 2007 will end up being just like every other year. You can’t rely on tricks to get you to the top, and certainly not to keep you there.
The best part of a new year is that every possibility still exists. Might this not be your best year ever? Sure it can! 2007 promises to be a challenge, but with the right frame of mind, great things can happen.
