Choosing The Best Keywords

Let’s talk about choosing keywords today. Many people will point you to the Overture Inventory Tool to look up keywords, and it’s okay, but there’s a few things you need to keep in mind when using it. For one thing, the keywords aren’t always in order.
That’s right, people don’t usually look for “britney song spear” like Overture will tell you. You have to use the wisdom that God gave you and realize that people are looking for “Britney Spears song”. Overture has a ton of these wrong, so make sure to do a “reality check” before configuring pages for the terms.
Also, keep in mind that the numbers you see are aggregate. This means they show a combination of the terms that make up that phrase. For example “britney spears” will include the totals of searches for “britney spears song”. You can click on any of the pages to bring up the variations of that term.
The main rule of thumb is to use some common sense, because some of the terms are just plain goofy.
