Don’t Get Nervous About Google Instability

I’ve noticed that people always seem to get worked up when Google updates, and the search results aren’t stable. There’s no need to be nervous. Around and around she goes, and where she stops…nobody knows. The best thing to do if you’re noticing a high degree of instability in the SERPs, is to ignore it. Certainly there has to be something better to do than sit around and watch the data centers change.

Google updates are nearly continous

It’s nothing like the old days, when Google would “dance” once a month on a tidy schedule. Now you can expect pages to be added to the soup almost constantly. Plus, Google has been making a number of infrastructure changes, dating back at least one year, which have introduced even greater levels of chaos into their system.

The latest Google update is taking a lot of time

So much time, in fact, that most likely the current “backlinks and PR update” will end up being rolled back, or will never show new values. This is just part of the game. Thousands of webmasters sat around watching it, and commenting on each step of the update, but so far it hasn’t translated into any real advance for their websites.

Whatever you do, don’t spend too much time watching updates

That includes sitting around making predictions, or doing any of the many things you can do to waste time as you wait for “Google to do something”. Just try and stay focused on your own work. That’s what will pay the bills in the long run.
