Increase A Site’s Trustworthiness To Improve Linkability

This is a simple tip, but one you should ignore at your own peril. Does your name appear anywhere on your website? If it doesn’t, you should add it. Also add a bio and include a picture. Why? Because it increases the trustworthiness of your website nearly instantly, and doesn’t cost you a dime.

Blogs, in particular, can’t be anonymous.

Sorry, there’s just no way. “Blogging” is a term that is synonymous with “personal thoughts”. An un-named blogger does not have the impact of someone who uses their name. You will get many less links if you don’t make it clear who you are. I know because I made this mistake for several months, before a blogger lambasted me. After I made it clear who I was, the number of incoming, natural links increased quickly.

Credibility is the biggest issue you have to overcome online.

You have other issues you need to deal with, of course, when running an internet business, but the biggest one is credibility. People need to believe in your website in order to have the confidence to place orders. You can help them by doing the obvious:

1) Easy to find contact information
2) An author bio
3) Profiles of the company/product and authors

This shouldn’t take you long to implement, at all. And the benefits will be enormous, and fast. If you’ve been getting very few natural links, I’m willing to guess you’ll see an immediate increase in the next few weeks. And the best part of these types of links? They’ll be links from a credible source. People with their own credibility will also seek to establish yours.

  2. True, I include a decent (not too much admittedly) amount of info on myself so people at least get an idea of who I am.
