Direct links are a great source of traffic

People are always interested in “links” from websites and what those links can do. My experience has shown the best kind of incoming link brings traffic with it. An example is when you make a blog posts that gets linked from a popular blog with a similar traffic profile.
One good way to get new fresh links is to do something newsworthy. People are always scouring the news services so it’s likely they’ll happen upon your story and mention it and link to it. If it’s a website “that’s much bigger than yours”, then the effects can be impressive.
What kind of things make up news? I can’t give you an exact answer, but it has to be something good. Think from the perspective of the editor who’s looking for news, and make it something with a unique hook. Always give your press release a good headline, and the rest could take of itself.
This advice will be especially true for a website that’s focused on a tight niche. The more the news that you release helps the industry, the more likely you are to get links that carry traffic with them.

It’s true, and it all boils down to being unique. In a crowded Blog-market, you have to stand out to have any chance of making it big so to speak.
