That’s my question for the day. Internet marketing is a wide open field. There are no rules. Yes, you can find “best practices” or guidelines, but they’re not exactly the “10 Holy Commandments”. But one major problem you’ll find if you read every tip online is that none stress just how important it is to create a buzz online.
No one can tell you exactly how to do it, because it’ll depend on your website. But the basic formula involves creativity. You have to find a solution that uniquely suits your audience and can help convert your visitors into customers.
Personally, I really think the “dumber” your viral marketing trick is the better. It doesn’t have to be anything brilliant, as long as it amuses people, and they pass it on to others. Especially stupid thinks, like ridiculous cartoons, will travel fast and wide, because that’s what the mass audience is really into. If you can entertain someone for even 30 seconds, you’re bound to see a lot of shelf life for years.
You can always test your plan with a small audience, and then ramp up from there. If the original crowd embraces the idea, then scaling up should be no problem. In the coming months, I plan on outlining in some detail a very easy plan to effectively use viral marketing to increase your website traffic.
