Summer traffic blahs
July 16, 2006 – 2:05 pmI think that we’re nearing the low point for summer traffic. The weekends, in particular, have seemed relatively empty many days recently. But it’s gone from warm to hot in most parts of the world, so people are probably looking to find shelter in the comfort of their air conditioned rooms.
Kids aren’t in school. Kids surf a lot. College age people, when they’re at school, tend to spend a ton of time online, but much less so when they’re home for the summer. This has an affect on a number of sites, and even ends up hurting summer time website revenue.
Since this phenomenom happens every year, it’s probably safest to compare your year over year totals, rather than get upset at your traffic in July being lower than that in March. People surf a lot in the winter months, and you might have your best months in the cold months.
These simple facts of internet marketing don’t have to be true, in some cases. If you can figure out a way to generate even more traffic each and every month, then a summer slow down won’t harm you at all. But it’s tough to get gains each and every month.
What do you do when summer traffic slow downs?
