Anti-trust lawsuit against Google dropped
July 14, 2006 – 3:06 pmI wondered the other day, suing Google, are you nut?. That question popped into my mind because of an anti-trust lawsuit that was waged against Google, and that has now been dropped. The basics of the case involved Kinderstart losing money because they were reduced to PageRank 0 and had their Adsense income dropped severely. Welcome to my life, on occassion, gentleman.
“The court concludes that Kinderstart has failed to allege any conduct on the part of Google that significantly threatens or harms competition,” Fogel wrote in a 23-page decision.
Obviously Google is not a monopoly. They also aren’t responsible for anyone’s living, except their own. They do quite well at making money for themselves. If you rely on them for traffic, you’re dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight and might end up sucking wind, hoping for an update to save you.
Diversification is the rule, because as the resolution of this lawsuit proved: Google doesn’t owe any webmasters a living.
