More trouble over Google party plane

July 12, 2006 – 6:22 am

The Google party plane is causing controversy, and it hasn’t even left the ground yet. Page and Brin are loving their new billionaire status. They were most concerned about the bedding situation on the plane. They both wanted California King-size beds.

For a September 2005 meeting at Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., “a full-size sofa mockup” was delivered so Messrs. Brin and Page “could sit on it, lay on it, then have comments about it,” Mr. Jennings said.

Sounds like a productive day at the ‘Plex: everyone sitting around cooing over how good Page and Brin looked in their enormous new Plane-Beds. Eric Schmidt was also instrumental in the design of the 767, which can hold 255 people.

Apparently the Google folks are aware of just how bad this whole plane incident could make them look. They’ve sued to stop any more allegations of their behavior making it into press. I’m sure they’re worried at how they might look to shareholders, although the lawsuits say the issue is because of “their safety”.

The report goes on to detail the security in place for Brin and Page, and it sounds like they’re as paranoid as certain world leaders.

Parts of the case have been labelled “Confidential - To Be Filed Under Seal.” Not sure what work Page and Brin are up to, but it seems to involve an unusual level of secrecy.
