Google Adsense is getting more aggressive when it comes to their ads. The 300×250 Large Square is doing everything but break-dancing to get attention on your monitor. Yesterday, I even noticed a randomly generated image file put there to draw your eyes to the ad. (Reminiscent of Critter on Digital Point’s trick). It looks like Google is doing their best to get people to click on ads.

You have quite a few ways to get people to click now (including Video Ads). Video Ads are even better: they say “Click here” and have the “Ads by Google” buried. The wide variety of ads will help ensure that if banner blindness is setting in, there is a solution. Deep inventories of advertisers with a wide multitude of ads will ensure more clicks and more pay for webmasters.

There have been various sightings of the new ads around the internet. The intrepid Jen at Jensense explains more about the ads. They’re just like Link Units. The user clicks on the image, they’re given a menu of ads to choose from. You get paid when the ad is clicked. These new units are called Vertical Images and are available in certain ad units.

The image files appear to run at the top of the Skyscraper and Wide Skycraper ad units. Looks like a good way to make more money for Adsense Publishers.
