Big companies drop big bucks all the time on branding campaigns which make their brand names a household word. If small businesses could do the same, they would. But most small businesses just don’t have the requisite budget to start hitting the internet air waves with reckless abandon. The smart small businesses don’t obsess about their advertising budget, but they do make sure to make the most of it.

If you’re advertising online, you need to consider whether you have enough money to make sure your ads run every month. Ads usually only work through some form of repetition. Plus, you have to consider the very real possibility of click fraud. Consider that a portion of your monthly spend will be wasted on fraudsters. Here’s a quick checklist of things to consider before you advertise online:
- Are the charges for the ad recurring?
- Does the company offer any sort of guarantees concerning the type of traffic they deliver?
- Is the traffic closely related to your subject?
- How does the cost of the advertising compare to other methods
- What do other customers say about the product?
Make sure to analyze all potential aspects of your ad buy. Especially be concerned about how you’ll feel if you run through your whole ad budget without making a conversion. It can happen easily on the internet if you don’t match your ad to your buyer.
