There’s a ton of talk on the internet about getting search engine traffic. That’s great, but it takes awhile to come to fruition. What about people who are impatient and want traffic to their websites today? Here’s a few methods that bring the bodies to your website faster than waiting for search engines to update.

1) Use PPC - it’s the fastest - but by far the most expensive - and be very careful of your campaign to ensure maximum profitablity
2) Start a blog and comment in other people’s blogs - it’s not the fastest method in the world of building traffic - but it’s a solid supply of qualified leads
3) Give away a unique or cool tool that helps you gain links virally - this is the hardest one to conceptualize, but the easiest one to cash in on
4) Link to yourself at del.icio.us - You’ll show up in the recent links section for a brief second, at least getting a few live bodies to your website
5) Submit one of your blog posts to Digg.com - only do this if the article is good and it’s about technology. Otherwise you’ll be attacked by snarks - (similar to sharks only snarkier)
6) Post in your blog with a good title - Both Technorati and Blogsearch.google.com will reward you with some instant search traffic. Nothing to write home about often, but you can easily expect 2-5 visitors to come in per post per service. That’s 10 people a day you get per blog, just for putting in the work
7) Improve your website. Any improvement you can make to your website will help you attract visitors faster. Go through and see if there’s anything you can improve.
These methods help get you jump-started. They won’t carry you to the end, but the main point is get more traffic to your website. Once you convert some of the traffic to your website to becoming your visitors, they’ll become unpaid evangelists who will spread your word even further. Bring’em in. Convert’em. And keep’em coming back for more. Simple advice that should help any website prosper.
