If you try to use the Google link command to discover the nature of your competitor’s backlinks, you might be in for a world of hurt. They only show a “random sample” of links to any page, and they never show much detail about who links to who. Luckily, there’s a powerful solution to this problem, in the form of Yahoo SiteExplorer. This simple interface (using Yahoo Web Services) provides a slick and easy way for you to investigate links.
The interface is easy, but make sure you click on the “inlink” button each of the individual pages to make sure you’re seeing all the pages that link to your interior pages. And if you take a good look, you might just discover that the websites with excellent rankings have a lot of deeplinks because of their content. You’ll also notice the phenomenom quite clearly with blogs.
The further you look into the structures of sites, the more likely the picture will become a lot clearer concerning their search engine rankings.
How can you develop interior deeplinks?
The easiest way is by adding something that people would naturally link to: i.e. something useful. The better the tool is, the freeer the offer is, the more likely you are to garner links. And one-way links to deep pages are the surest way to get paid in the current environment. That means, as always, the links with the easiest SEO job, are the ones that offer something unique, useful, or at least entertaining to their readers.
