Low page count troubles continue in Google

This has been an ongoing problem with Google that hasn’t been fixed. On several of my websites I see a persistently low page count, despite endless crawling by Google. I have to assume this is based on the “Big Daddy Update” which was introduced to improve crawling for Google. Google spiders crawl the content. In fact they crawl it endlessly, but much of the content never ends up in their index. The most dramatic signs of a problem have been this week when I saw these approximate counts:

Friday: 700 pages
Saturday: 197,000 - most supplementals
Monday: 36

This is a forum with over 260,000 posts and 21,000 threads. It has 466 incoming links according to MSN and has been online for 2 1/2 years. It’s incredible that only 36 pages have made it into the index in all this same.

There have been many reports like this on many forums. I’m assuming the fact that I saw the supplementals drop on Sunday means we’re nearing an end? Hard to say, but official word is that the Big Daddy “infrastructure” is in place. It will be very interesting to see what happens concerning a normal backlink update and Toolbar PR update.
