Internet marketers can’t worry about daily fluctuations

One thing about the internet marketing business is that there are lots of ups and downs, especially when compared to a traditional off-line venture. This can get to you, if you let it. When the fluctuation is up, it’s easy to feel like your winning streak just can’t end. But when your traffic fluctuates down, it’s also easy to overstate the true impact, and get depressed. There’s no need to overdo it. Fluctuations, in both directions, are just part of the internet marketing game, and one that you need to deal with to achieve success.
Don’t go to pieces over a search engine update, especially a bad one. Make sure you look into the trouble, and double check your website for any errors. If you find them, fix them and forget it. If the drop in rankings was really something you did, then it should be repaired on the next good crawl. If not, then all the fiddling in the world can’t help you.
These fluctuations are just a daily part of life on the internet? Why? Because the internet is a network made up of billions of computers and people. In a sense, it’s similar to an organic creation with rhythms of its’ own. Sometimes the business cycle is on an upswing, othertimes it’s down. But the main thing is that you take the necessary steps to keep on succeeding, no matter what is happening to the internet at large. The only way a drop in traffic can really help you, is if you let it get to you emotionally.
So there we have it. We need to always look at our traffic, without ever becoming obsessed by it. The search engines are always a big source of traffic, but they’re fickle. You can never think of a search engine as your partner or your search engines results as guaranteed. That type of complacence will get you in the end. Just keep on grinding, and eventually you’ll get there (wherever there might be for you).
