Recent Google update - codename Bourbon

The recent Google update has brought a number of changes, and with it, much speculation.

Google used Bourbon Update to go after “scrapers”

This is possible. The algo does appear to be aimed at:

• Keyword Rich URLS
• Overly high keyword density
• Template driven websites

Any of these factors would make you think that perhaps Google did targer AdSense scraper sites. It’s possible, but it doesn’t take into acccount the many reports of content sites that were also hit. It is possible that many of these sites, created by the same SEO community, have taken hits due to similar structures.

Bourbon turned the notch down yet again on “relevancy”.
