The recent Google update has brought a number of changes, and with it, much speculation.
Google used Bourbon Update to go after "scrapers"
This is possible. The algo does appear to be aimed at:
Keyword Rich URLS
Overly high keyword density
Template driven websites
Any of these factors would make you think that perhaps ...

Google has updated both backlinks and PageRank today.
I see a nice PageRank spread from the use of sitemaps. Almost every interior page now has a PR 4, so that is quite good.

I can't even remember the last time there was a Google backlink update. An event like that used to cause so much uproar and interest.
